1. Dermaroller treatment: what is it?

Dermarolling treatments offered in beauty institute, also known as micro-needling, involve using a small cylinder-shaped tool that activates the body’s natural healing mechanisms.

Microneedles to activate collagen and elastin production

When reacting to the Dermaroller’s microneedle perforation, the skin cells located around the newly created microchannels receive the signal to regenerate, thus producing collagen and elastin fibres. The microneedles may be pricking the skin, but those tiny wounds don’t damage the tissues. Who ever said beauty is pain?

2. Is Derma rolling painful?

Let’s be honest: Derma rolling isn’t the soft caress of a bird’s feather slowly stroking your cheek. Without being painful, in-clinic Dermaroller treatments performed in institute may be uncomfortable. We can feel the slight pricking of the microneedles, leaving the skin red and warm 1 to 3 hours following the treatment. But you won’t miss the soft stroke of a bird feather when you see your skin smooth, youthful, firm and bouncy!

3. Does Derma rolling really work?

In its category, the Dermaroller is the best there is. In a clinic setting, this anti-ageing cosmetic procedure is a favourite because it’s minimally invasive and the recovery time is shorter. It’s the most effective treatment we’ve seen in the last decade.

4. Is there a perfect age to start using the Dermaroller, and does it work on all skin types?

Because it’s so versatile, the professional Dermaroller cosmetic procedure brings an interesting array of benefits for all skin types, from 16 to 85 years old. The Dermaroller is often used to help reduce acne scars with younger skin. When skin breakouts become inactive, the Dermaroller accelerates healing while avoiding permanent scarring.

Around 27 years old, Derma rolling becomes the best ally in your anti-ageing quest. It’s effective and affordable. This firming treatment rejuvenates all skin types, whether you have youthful or more mature skin.

5. How often should I receive a Dermaroller treatment?

We recommend one in-clinic intensive treatment plan per year: 3 to 4 treatments every two weeks. You may need an additional treatment 5 or 6 months later to maintain the results.

6. What aftercare products should I use following a Dermaroller treatment?

To help soothe your skin following your treatment, we recommend using regenerating serums and moisturizers for sensitive skin. 24 to 36 hours after your Dermaroller treatment, you can apply the E.V.E. Serum, the Derm Repair Serum by Esthederm or even Guinot’s longevity cream.

7. How to get the most out of the Dermaroller treatments?

Having a routine is good for kids, athletes, our mood and digestion… and our skin! It’s no secret: having a good skincare routine is key. The collagen boost following your in-clinic treatment will continue with your beauty regimen.
Having your own “home” Dermaroller is a must!

DermarollerExfoliating, moisturizing and stimulating: three steps to younger-looking skin

2 to 3 times per week, you can clean your face with an exfoliant such as Lightening Buffing Mask by Esthederm and moisturize it with a mask such as Guinot’s Anti-Wrinkle Mask.

The daily use of moisturizers containing specific firming ingredients will also stimulate collagen production. Products containing retinol, vitamin C and hyaluronic acid also ensure optimal skin moisturizing and elasticity.

8. What treatments can be combined with Derma rolling?

After a nice warm bath, a good movie, a glass of white wine or an evening with friends (happiness is just as important!), many little attentions can be combined to get the best out of your Dermaroller professional treatment, depending on your skin’s maturity.

Peeling, pulsed light and radio-frequency: three rejuvenating treatments

Teenagers can combine their treatments with chemical peelings, known for their regenerating and restorative benefits, as well as for their anti-acne properties.

From 30 years old, alternating between Dermaroller and intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments is ideal. It’s perfect for tightening skin, treating redness and brown spots, and smoothing out wrinkles
If you’re looking for the most effective firming face treatment, you can combine two procedures: Dermaroller and radiofrequency. This specific treatment tackles wrinkles, the bags under the eyes and improves the appearance of sagging facial skin by reshaping the neck and neckline.

9. Is at-home Derma rolling as effective as done by a professional?

Dermarollers designed for home care are much different than those used by professionals. Designed to stimulate the skin on a daily basis (up to 3 times a week), it doesn’t pierce or irritate the skin. In a clinic setting, the devices used by professionals are slightly more invasive because the microneedles go through the dermis and provide an in-depth treatment, stimulating the cells responsible for the skin’s elastic fibers (collagen, elastin, reticulin) and epidermal stem cells.

10. How does a Dermaroller treatment work at EQlib?

We always begin the treatment by cleaning and exfoliating your skin. We want to remove dead skin cells to maximize the results. Then, we apply a vitamin C serum and a medical-grade hyaluronic acid serum. These pre-care products provide antioxidants that promote healing and improve skin elasticity. They’re also great moisturizers.
One small area at a time, the Dermaroller is rolled over the skin in a star-shaped manner, in 3 different directions. At the end of the session, we apply a restorative serum and a soothing cream to help your skin heal.

A week later, you can watch the magic happen: your skin is regenerated, radiant and plumped, and your complexion is more even. 3 months after your Dermaroller intensive treatment-plan, you can see your deep wrinkles are smoother, your fine lines are plumped up, your dark spots are less visible, the shape of your face is defined, your nasolabial folds look softer and your complexion is clear and glowing.

And you? Well, you feel relaxed… or your face gives this impression!
